A 45-minute work for SATB and SSA choirs, community or gospel choir, and soprano and baritone soloists, with optional children's choir.  Sets texts from African-American women poets, writers, historians, and activists.  Commissioned by Scripps College in 2013 to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation and the 50th anniversary of the assassination of Medgar Evers.  Revised in 2020.  Scored for either piano alone or piano and pipe organ.  All proceeds from the sale of this score are donated to the Medgar and Myrlie Evers Institute.
